Designing the perfect itinerary for your group

Case Study 1: 2015-2016

School: Lanesborough Prep School
Itinerary content: Market Challenge, Goats Cheese Farm Visit, Cider Farm Visit, Bayeux tapestry, Town Trail, D-Day landing Beaches & Cemetery, Interview local French Artisans & key village figures in French, Walk across the Mont saint Michel.
Lead teacher: Adam Moore
Position in school: Deputy Head

Lanesborough school first enquired with RocknRoll Adventures in Oct 2013 because they were not happy with their current French school trip provider. Adam Moore the deputy head of the school new exactly what type of French school trip that he was looking for. It was simply a case of finding a company that could provide it for him.

As RocknRoll Adventures is a small company we have the ability to be flexible with our itineraries so we can tailor make our French school trips in Normandy to suit the exact needs of our clients. Adam told us that he wanted the same itinerary that the school had had with their old provider. Although we previously did not offer some of the activities he was looking for, we agreed that we would research and set up 2 new activities for him. Another important factor was sole occupancy and the French authenticity of the trip. This was not a problem for us as all our accommodation is sole occupancy and managed by French cooks and hosts.

Adam told us what activities he would like to do, we then set about developing an itinerary for his trip. After he had agreed to the itinerary and was happy with the quote the school paid a 20% deposit to reserve the trip dates. Adam was then sent a booking form, booking terms and conditions to read, sign and return. We then set about booking all the travel, transport, accommodation and activities.

As June 2014 would be the first time that Adam would be leading his school on a French trip to Normandy with RocknRoll Adventure we were more than happy invite him to Normandy for a trip inspection prior to the schools visit in June. Something Adam found particular useful, reassuring, and enjoyable.

Lanesborough School visited Normandy in June 2014 and the trip was a great success. So much so, they have re-booked for the same week in 2015.

What Adam says: "A great fun-packed trip. It was a wonderful way to see the children speaking so much French!"

Case Study 2: 2015-2016

School: Latymer Upper School
Itinerary Content: Kayaking, Archery, Mountain-biking, Land Yachting, Parcours Adventure, Market Challenge, Velo Rail, Goats Cheese Farm visit, Gorge Hike & sketch.
Lead teacher: Jackie Price
Position in school: IT Teacher.

Latymer Upper school had approached us in 2008 after they had been unhappy with their previous French trip supplier to Normandy. They were looking for sole occupancy accommodation and a guide that would escort the group on all their excursions. As our accommodation is mainly old farmhouses and our guides dedicate all their time to our groups for their entire stay we new we could accommodate their needs.

In order to arrange their itinerary the group leader Jackie Price consulted our website and discussed with us the various activities that the group would like to do. She was looking for a variety of activities so the children could sample a mixture of the history, culture and active activities Normandy has to offer. After checking the logistics of her desired itinerary we provisionally booked all the activities to ensure their availability and emailed her a copy of the 1st draft itinerary and quote across to her.

When she had confirmed that she would like to go ahead with the provisionally booked trip, we emailed her an invoice, booking form and our terms and conditions. After we received the 20% deposit for the trip we booked and confirmed all the travel, transport and activities. Once they were confirmed we sent a final copy of the itinerary to Jackie.

Jackie came on a preview visit with a colleague, to complete a risk assessment for her trip and inspect the accommodation and various activity centers. She found this very beneficial and reassuring to familiarize herself with the accommodation and activity centers prior to her school group arriving.

Jackie and all her supporting staff really enjoyed the French Trip to Normandy. When the children returned back to school they raved about their experience, and Latymer have rebooked with us for the last seven years.

What Jackie says: "Just to say thanks agian for a great trip, we all had a fantastic time and everything went remarkbably smoothly'.
