Mountain Bike Tour Normandy

A fantastic 3 day 135km loop, exploring the deep granite valleys, steep slopes and gorges that this little known treasure of Normandy has to offer.

RARA MOUNTAIN BIKE TOURING

Over this 3 day trip we will tour the whole area of Swiss Normandy visiting all of its 9 areas in one satisfying 135km loop.

Day 1
Thury-Harcourt - Pont d'Ouilly 50km

Depending on how you travel to France we will meet you at the start point of the Tour in Swiss Normandy at Thury-Harcourt or will arrange a transfer for you from the train station, ferry port or airport. We will be at the meeting point from 0800. Accommodation can be arranged if you would like to arrive the night before. If you travel in your own car, the cars will be left in a public car park (free) in a small quiet French town. All clothes and valuables that you will need for the next few days will be transferred into our van in order for us take it onto the next accommodation. The tour will start at 1000 on the first morning.

The riding is a mixture of technical single track to farmers' tracks. You will encounter lots of rocks and roots, rivers, gorges and woods. The area is very hilly with lots of ups and downs. Due to its rocky soil the trails in Swiss Normandy are relatively dry year round. We will stop for a picnic lunch in a beautiful place about 1300. We get our wheels rolling again about 1400, with us arriving at Pont d'Ouilly about 1700. When we arrive at our destination for the night your bags will be waiting for you. Once you have had a few cold beers and freshened up dinner will be served at 2000.

Day 2
Pont d'Ouilly - Clecy 50km

After a continental breakfast of delicious fresh bread and croissants 0800-0900, the Tour will start again at 1000. The mornings riding will be a mixture of short climbs and some technical descents, taking us through the wonderfully scenic countryside that this area has to offer. We will encounter lots of wildlife, and fields of crops and meadows full of flowers. There are wonderful panoramic views to be had at Roche d'Oetre, a large granite outcrop that we will pass en-route.

In another beautiful spot we will have a picnic lunch at 1300. After Lunch the route will take us to Clecy where there will be the chance to stop off at a local cider and goats cheese farm to taste the local produce. We will arrive in the pretty village of Clecy around 1700. A delicious 3 course dinner will be served at 2000.

Day 3
Clecy - Thury Harcourt 35km

After Breakfast 0800-0900 we will begin the final leg of our journey. If your legs are aching from the abundance of hills in Swiss Normandy, you will be glad to know that the final stage is the shortest. By now you will have been spoilt by the wonderful countryside Swiss Normandy has to offer with its abundance of granite Rock outcrops, miles of rolling hills, rivers and dense woodland.

The last morning's riding will remind you of all the wonderful things you have experienced in this classic cross country riding area, ensuring that you will want to come back to experience the other 800km of trails that are on offer here. We will reach Thury-Harcourt about 1300, where we will have a scrumptious farewell lunch before all going our separate ways.
